Moving from Streaks to HabitForge
Streaks lives on Apple devices. HabitForge has no iOS app, so on an iPhone you would use the web app in the browser, and you would lose the widgets and the Apple Health link.
Should you move at all?
If you are staying on iPhone and Apple Watch, Streaks fits better. It is one purchase, and Apple Health ticks some tasks off for you. HabitForge does neither.
Also check what HabitForge does not do. HabitForge has no iOS app, no home screen widgets and no health sync, and nothing guides you through replacing one habit with another.
The move, step by step
HabitForge has no importer, so this is done by hand.
- Get your list out. List your tasks, up to the 24 Streaks holds. Negative tasks, the things you want to stop doing, become break habits here.
- Sign in. Open HabitForge and sign in with Google. There is no password to set.
- Add your habits. Add each one on the web, or on Android if that is why you are moving. On an iPhone, add the web app to your home screen. Create a habit has every field.
- Write the loop on the ones that matter. Add the cue, routine and reward to two or three habits first. The rest can stay as a name until you need more.
- Set up what surrounds them. Check-ins here are something you do on purpose: nothing reads Apple Health. A task you shared with someone through iCloud becomes a challenge you both join.
- Keep both for a week. Your old numbers stay in Streaks. In HabitForge every rope starts as a thread on your first check-in, and that first week is when it looks thinnest.
