Moving from Habitify to HabitForge

Habitify runs on watch, phone, Mac and web, with stacked reminders, location reminders and Apple Health. HabitForge runs on the web and Android, with one daily reminder.

Should you move at all?

If you live on an Apple Watch, or you use Zapier or location reminders, stay.

Also check what HabitForge does not do. HabitForge has no iOS app, no home screen widgets and no health sync, and nothing guides you through replacing one habit with another.

The move, step by step

HabitForge has no importer, so this is done by hand.

  1. Get your list out. List your habits. The pages we read do not mention an export, so write them down, and note which habit each stacked reminder hangs off.
  2. Sign in. Open HabitForge and sign in with Google. There is no password to set.
  3. Add your habits. Add each habit by hand. A habit you stacked on another one goes in the cue field here: "after I brush my teeth". It is a sentence you read, and nothing fires when you get there. Create a habit has every field.
  4. Write the loop on the ones that matter. Add the cue, routine and reward to two or three habits first. The rest can stay as a name until you need more.
  5. Set up what surrounds them. Friend challenges and leaderboards have a home in the community. Off mode for a break is pause here.
  6. Keep both for a week. Your old numbers stay in Habitify. In HabitForge every rope starts as a thread on your first check-in, and that first week is when it looks thinnest.
